MOON is an interactive installation composed of a floating frame suspended in a dark foggy space.

An interactive experience using light projection facing the audience, MOON draws its name from a deriving optical occurrence: when trying to take a photo with a facing light source, a perfect circular lens flare will appear, alluding to the moon’s shape and brightness.

MOON is composed of a floating frame suspended in a dark foggy space. As light is projected onto the frame, onlookers entering the space from the opposite side see a hovering pyramid of light inviting them to come closer and interact. Participants gain control of the pyramid as they slide their arms through the frame. Four different patterns and modulated sounds react to people’s hand movements.

The piece is full of mind games: the main apparent shapes in the interactive experience itself  are rectangular and pyramidal yet it holds that ‘circular’ title, and there is no sound to be heard on the earth’s natural satellite yet the artwork’s soundscape is inspired by what different astronauts claim they hear when they are on the moon surface. Using a projector, haze machines, and an analog synthesizer, MOON creates an ambiguous audiovisual journey through light and space.
