Psychedelics

PSYCHEDELICS is an immersive-interactive installation created for the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto as part of its Psychedelics: Art. Culture. Science. exhibition, that simulates altered states of perception through a full-body, multisensory experience.

At the centre of the space stands a giant luminous prism, drawing visitors into an immersive environment where image, sound and space slowly evolve.

Developed in collaboration with experts and grounded in scientific research, the installation follows the arc of a psychedelic experience through a sequence of distinct perceptual stages. Beginning in an idle state, the experience enters the onset stage as people come in, intensifying into hallucination and dissolution of the self, before progressively descending toward a softer landing and reflective state. Throughout this journey, responsive visuals, spatial interaction and highly targeted sound continuously transform the environment around each participant, warping their senses and bending reality.

PSYCHEDELICS uses digital art to explore how perception itself can shift and transform. By destabilizing familiar relationships between body, image, sound and space, the work invites visitors to experience a carefully constructed journey through altered perception, all while remaining fully present within a museal context.
