ANTIBODIES is a hybrid artwork: initially taking the form of a website anyone can join at any time, it naturally developed into a physical installation for public spaces too as lockdown measures progressively eased. More than 20,000 people from 48 different countries have taken part in the online experience accessible here: www.antibodies.webcam.
Both formats use CURSOR, a proprietary technology combining optics, AI and machine learning in the tracking features. ANTIBODIES is a reflection and critique that clearly manifests the intersection between such technologies and their ever-growing influence on our social lives.

In an increasingly digital world, we are constantly pushed toward virtual communication platforms and conference calls, whether we choose to or not.
ANTIBODIES is an interactive experience inspired by virtual gatherings, questioning our vulnerability within these pervasive systems that often require us to trade privacy and the intimacy of real-life interactions for connectivity. As participants join, a system captures their facial expressions and responds with layered visual and sonic patterns. Each interaction is recorded and added to a growing gallery of disembodied humans.
Beyond security concerns, these technologies expose us in more subtle ways, listening to conversations, tracking movements, and analyzing behavior. ANTIBODIES makes this process visible through overlaid graphics that follow every movement of the face, revealing the mechanisms at play.
The piece also explores self-awareness. In the physical space, we perceive others but rarely ourselves. In the virtual world that has now become a new norm, however, we become both observer and observed, simultaneously part of the crowd and subject to it. A situation that can feel unfamiliar, it provokes a range of responses, from discomfort to restraint and self-consciousness.
